Ryhope to Seaton

Sunday 6th. July was the second in our series of walks; this one was only a short one, the Ryhope to Seaton walk along the disused railway line and is only 4 miles.

The day wasn't very promising weatherwise as we were travelling to the village green at Ryhope, but we still were determined to enjoy the day .
We were met by only 3 people (and Tilly the small terrier) this time and we were 4 strong, Andrew, Ann, Peter and myself(Ken). The forecast was for showers all day and true to form it did rain.but we were not deterred.

After a short history of the village by Peter our Storyteller we set off up the railway line, another brief history of the railway again by Peter and then it started to rain as forecasted, nevertheless we plodded on stopping anytime we saw anything of interest .
Peter our encylopeadia also demonstrated his extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna along the line of which there was an abundance of.

The halfway point was the pub at Seaton were all enjoyed a welcome glass of liquid refreshment! and so to return to Ryhope, unfortunately along the same route but this walk couldn't be done any other way

On arrival at the Village green the 3 walkers gave their thanks and we all headed home.
The Verdict! A very enjoyable walk despite the rain.

The next walk in our programme is the:
Bridges Over the River Wear
